A Lot of News

The new Vega-5 has moved from first edit to second edit… there were nearly 300 comments over 12300 words. Joyous. The goal is to make it over 20k words now for the next publication attempt. This can and will happen before the end of the month even with all the other writing going on. Go me.

In other news, Nanowrimo is coming up. Look it up if you don’t know what it is. I do intend to participate this year. I have a novella I want to get out of the way. Look on the sidebar for a clue. The final length is well under the 50k I’m supposed to write, but the requirements for the novella promotion are actually:

1. Firm Minimum: 20,000 words
2. Firm Maximum: 75,000 words
3. Suggested Length: 30,000 to 50,000 words
4. Format: standard formatting only please, anthologies are skinned.

I also need to write my Aftermath anthology. Which does not have to be so very long. Although my anthologies this year have been running 15k or thereabouts. Having a short one would be nice I think. I will have to squeeze it in with Nano because it’s due the first week of December, something like the 8th.

I MUST finish ‘It Was A…” too. I want to do that before Christmas. All I have left is Puck’s story and the clean up… which really can be written into Puck’s story. I expect it to be long, a good 25-30k words, and not a complete story within itself, or maybe two stories. I’ll brainstorm on that later in it’s own post.

I also want to get RT going. I had really wanted to get it done by the end of the year but I do not see that happening and there is no way anyone will let me sneak that in as my nano (sighs) because it’s not new writing. I think I can manage it over the winter though. Next year my writing schedule will be just as hectic as this one has been… if not more so. Hopefully it will also see more things published. Honestly it’s more about giving the first 3/4 a good scrub then writing the last 1/4 over again. That should pull it from ‘maybe a novel’ to ‘hey that’s a novel’.

I’ve also looked at a few places I can list my stories once I get them on amazon. Myr is going to list them for me, but Allromance can list a few too (the more romantic ones) however they believe in HEA’s honestly they might like some of my stuff. If I can keep the prices down… might be worth it.

editing is for the birds

well… I’ve been editing again and can I say.. bleh bleh bleh. I like the writing part but the editing part isn’t fun. I do it though — every story, every time — and it gets done.

Anyway I just wanted to say that.

There might be something new on the horizon.

and still nothing….

Today is labor day.

Slash Books has had the story for officially um… 10 weeks. You would have thought I would have heard something by now.

I wonder if this is a test of patience. If it is I give up.

The new It Was A… story will be out in about 10 days. This one is called Judgment Day.

I think this is the blurb… still working out the final details.

The gods must be insane.
Recalled home before locating his consort, Prince Anarix incurred the wrath of his father and his consort’s family. Accused of descending into madness, he does the only rational thing possible – he embraces it.

A new Vega-5 will be available soon. Details to follow.

so it’s been two weeks….

and I’ve heard nothing from Slash Books. That’s two weeks past the date they said would be getting back to the authors on. I emailed the two days past that and they said it would be “soon” well… it’s ten days past soon.

as for It Was A…

I feel like I’m circling this story. I mean it’s not going well but it’s going ok I guess sort of, maybe? I have the general plot laid out in two thousand words. I intend the story to be 5-7 thousand words. So I guess technically it’s about a quarter to a half written.

I guess that the best update I got… mostly just a bunch of BLEH.

Having a BLAH weekend

Ever just have one of those weekends where you don’t want to write, don’t want to move off the couch and just want to watch a marathon of Robin Hood (BBC version) — all 42 episodes?

Yeah.

I’m having one of those weekends. Maybe I’ll get something written. I’ve got a lot due in the next 30 days. Not to mention I hope to be hearing from Slashbooks one way or the other in the next day or three.

Here’s to the writer’s life. Joyous.
