I am truly sorry you feel that way.

Honestly, Oidche is one of the most misunderstood pieces I've written. To me it is not depressing at all. It is about duty, honor, love, and, eventually, death. However it is a death worth dying... an ending to a life worth living... and facing the fact that we are not immortal. It is about fate. It is about destiny. It is about living knowing you will not be alive tomorrow, and accepting that for what it is... life. It is fantasy. It is history. The setting is the early middle ages, when paganism and christianity fought for the souls of men all over Europe and beyond. It's about not fitting in, yet finding a place in the world. It's about all of us.

So if you find that hopeless and depressing I'm sorry. Oddly, I find the story uplifting, but who am I?

I don't see the point of writing something so full of hopelessness and depression. It can only serve to make you depressed and it certainly did nothing good for me. I read the story hoping for something uplifting at the end but I was sorely disappointed. Okay, life's a bitch, then it gets worse, and then you die. But I don't want to wallow in it.
